IT’S ALL ABOUT THE MUSIC !
HiDEOUT iS A CROOK’S BEST FRiEND
Everywhere you look these days, it seems that pundits and critics are trying to convince us that rock rolled over and died. I don’t know about you, but I’m sick and tired of hearing that lie. And as proof that it ain’t so, I suggest that those skeptics take this debut CD by LAuren, stick it in the player and crank the sucker to kingdom come. Not since the heyday of Joan Jett, Patti Smith and Chrissie Hynde has a woman rocked this hard.
LAuren came to L.A. via Miami and although music was always in her blood, it wasn’t until several years ago, after she stepped onstage to sing some Stones tunes with a local band, that she considered making her own. Working with producers Joey Covington (the former drummer of Jefferson Airplane and Hot Tuna) and Paul Shortino (vocalist for Rough Cutt and Quiet Riot), LAuren began crafting her album, interpreting material in her own way from Joey’s song catalogue and a couple of tunes penned by Jefferson Airplane founder and vocalist Marty Balin.
“I told everyone from the get-go I wanted to do a “Classic Rock” album,” LAuren says. “I didn’t want current effects, or synthesizers. I said I didn’t care what everyone else in rock was doing right now. I wanted bare-bones rock n roll.”
And that’s what she got. “I realized the timing was right to do these particular songs,” LAuren adds. “I feel like I’ve been on a mission this whole time.”
